Part 1: The Burden of Silence.
Music has always been my way of reaching out to the world. Usually, we talk about the hustle, we talk about the "B.E.T and GRAMMY" dreams, and we talk about the artistry of the Rock Venus Barbering Salon. But today, the "flow" is different.
Today, the flow is about survival in a different way..
I have just released a new single titled "Urinal Disease," produced right here at Rock Venus Music.
I know the title might make some people uncomfortable.
I know some of you might even feel a bit shy just reading those words. But that is exactly why I wrote this song.
We are living in a society where we are bold about many things - we are bold about politics, we are bold about football, and we are bold about fashion - but when it comes to the infections and diseases affecting our own bodies, we become silent. We become small. We hide.
Part 2: Shyness is a Dangerous Habit
In the streets of Tema and the villages of the Volta Region, I see it all the time. A brother or a sister is feeling pain.
They notice symptoms that shouldn't be there. But instead of seeking help, they hide behind "shyness."
Let me tell you the truth: Shyness will not heal an infection. Shyness will not kill a bacteria. Shyness will only give the disease more time to grow.
When you are shy about your health, you are essentially choosing your "image" over your life.
You are worried about what the nurse might think, or what the pharmacist might say, while the "Urinal Disease" is busy destroying your internal organs.
Shyness is a habit we must break today. There is no shame in being human. There is no shame in needing medicine.
Part 3: Your Health is Your Only Real Wealth
As a producer and an artist, I spend hours in the studio. As a barber, I spend hours on my feet.
We all have dreams. We want to travel to the UK, the USA, and Germany. We want to stand on the biggest stages in the world.
But ask yourself this: Can a sick man win a Grammy?
Can a man in constant pain enjoy the fruits of his labor?
The answer is no. You can have all the money in the world, but if your body is failing because you refused to treat an infection early, that money is useless.
You must make time for yourself.
You must make time for the hospital. If you can make time to come to the salon for a haircut, you can make time to see a doctor for a check-up.
Part 4: The Message of the Song
In this track, "Urinal Disease," I didn't hold back. I used my music as a tool for communication and healing. I am calling out the stigma. I am telling the youth and the elders alike:
Stop the "self-medication" with herbs you don't understand.
Stop waiting for the pain to "just go away."
Get the professional medicine you need.
Part 5: A Call to the Global Family
To my fans around the globe visiting www.RockVenus.Com, I want you to share this song.
Not just because the beat is fire - which it is - but because the message can save a life.
You might have a friend who is suffering in silence right now.
They are afraid to speak.
By sharing this song and this article, you are giving them the permission to seek help.
You are telling them, "Rock Venus says it's okay to take care of yourself."
Conclusion: The Flame of Survival
I am Joel Tornyi, and my mission is to be a blessing to your life. Sometimes that blessing comes through a danceable beat, and sometimes it comes through a hard truth.
Stream the new single "Urinal Disease" now. Listen to the lyrics. Let the message sink in.
And most importantly, look after your body.
It is the only home you have to live in while you chase your dreams.
